Differences in similar kicks

Spinning Back Kick and Spinning Back Side Kick

When performing a spinning back kick or just known as back kick, your hip faces opposite your opponent as much as possible, when you lift your foot, moves just beside your supporting leg (preferably the knee area) and you kick back while spotting your target just above your shoulder. The feet position is generally 45 degrees to almost pointing downwards when it connects with the target. When done in full speed, your should spot the target from over your shoulder just before your leg is stretched out for the contact.

For spinning back side kick, your hip is generally about 90degrees from your opponent after the spin, when you lift your foot, it could move a little away from the supporting leg and you spot the target with a more clear vision (not over the shoulder). By the time the foot connects to the target, the feet position should be about 60degrees to sideways. This has more accuracy than the spinning back kick simply because you see your target way better than spinning back kick.
